Hi there!! Happy day after Valentine’s Day! How was your Valentine’s?
To tell you the truth, I was planning on posting something yesterday morning for Valentine’s Day. Maybe some date ideas for, or some things that my husband and I did for Valentine’s while we were dating long distance, but I realized that since it was my first Valentine’s Day as a married woman I wanted to focus on Valentine’s Day with Grady and unplug from technology. This allowed me to really focus on the little things throughout the day.
I want to share with you a little bit about the simple gifts I got for Valentine’s Day. Being our first one as a married couple, Grady and I were excited to make this day special and spend lots of time together. But we didn’t do expensive things or get each other big gifts, we decided to do simple things together that would helps us spend quality time together. Here were my favorite gifts from yesterday.
The first simple gift I received yesterday of course was another day to spend with my husband. Being married to your best friend is truly a blessing and every morning I am reminded just how great it is. I know this may be corny, but since I skipped yesterday I can have a little space for it.π
The second gift was our day out. We bought a house about a month ago and it has been so fun doing the work together. Being able to pick out paint colors and furniture for our first home is another gift that I love, but yesterday we went and finally bought our paint and things we needed to paint our home. Doing this together, and on Valentine’s Day was so fun for me and Grady. Getting ready to prepare our home is exciting so going out and buying the stuff was a lot of fun. We also had a nice lunch out together.π
The last gift I want to talk about was our movie night. After being out and about for most of the day, it was nice to come home and be inside where it was warm while the snow fell outside and have a movie night. Quality time that we can spend together helps us connect and grow our relationship. I can say that every day that goes by we have little times together, driving in the car, walking together in the morning, eating our meals together, all of these things build our friendship and our love for each other.
Even though we spent time in a hardware store, grocery shopping and watching movies, I wouldn’t have changed our Valentine’s Day for anything. We had little simple gifts and activities and that was just the thing we needed. Even though we didn’t have fancy meals or places to go, it was the simple things that made our day so special. I hope that your Valentine’s Day was as special as ours and that you enjoyed a little glimpse into my family.
P.S. Stay tuned for some pictures and updates from our new house on my Instagram.π
